Christian Fournier

Christian Fournier was born in Lyon, France in 1948. After taking private art lessons at an early age, Fournier went to the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and later to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In Paris, Fournier met a group of older artists who had studied at the celebrated Académie de la Grande Chaumière. This academy specialized in continuing the tradition of École de Paris. His works of the cafes and boutiques of his adopted Paris are small gems which capture all the atmosphere and flavor of the City of Lights. Fournier has had major exhibits in France, Germany and the United States.

“When I moved to Paris, I developed a passion for Paris and the old shops and cafes.  The density of the colors of the old stones and wood seemed to be made for my palette.  The architectural lines of the buildings became the framework of my canvases.  I realized that one small store front could express all the beauty and intimacy of Paris.”
