Lucien Gondret

Lucien Gondret was born in Marines, France in 1941. Although his first paintings were of the countryside of his native Val-d’Oise, he soon discovered his chosen subject in the powerful seaside of Brittany. These rugged seascapes, with their superb contrast of light and dark, have become the signature image of Lucien Gondret. Gondret exhibits annually at the Salon des Indépendents and is a member of the Salon des Artistes Français. He has had numerous exhibits throughout France as well as Japan and the United States. His work can be found in important private collections throughout the world.

“Every painting is a journey.  My palette knives, brushes and paints are my companion and my guides.  The purpose of a journey is to arrive at a destination without ignoring the path taken.  My career has been hundreds of journeys that have served to develop me as an artist.  My greatest hope is that when someone looks at one of my paintings they will feel a sense of retracing my steps.”
